How to Install an Oil Pump Shaft
When something is in need of a replacement or installation in your vehicle, being able to complete the job yourself will save you a lot of money. Installing an oil pump shaft can run you a few hundred dollars at a body shop, but with a few easy steps, you will be able to buy the necessary parts yourself and get the job done.

Drain oil from oil pan into a plastic container. Set aside or dispose of the oil.

Remove oil pan bolts wtih a socket wrench.

Insert the thin wide screwdriver between the oil pan and the motor to loosen and remove oil pan.

Unscrew oil pump bolts with a socket wrench. Remove the oil pump from the motor and set aside.

Insert the shaft with the small circular retainer into the motor. The circular retainer should be facing toward the distributor.

Bolt the oil pump onto the motor using the oil pump bolts.

Reinstall the oil pan by screwing in the oil pan bolts. Tighten with a socket wrench.
